Many advisors and financial service professionals are using social media to reinforce their offline marketing and branding efforts. Although social media doesn’t typically translate into direct leads, it does contribute to establishing credibility and brand exposure. That being said, here’s three ways advisors are using social media to stand out.
1st – Building Report and Exposure with LinkedIn
LinkedIn is arguably one of the most powerful platforms that financial advisors can start using right away. If you’re not on LinkedIn, or not using your LinkedIn consistently, you may be missing out on some great opportunities to help you stand out from the crowd.
One of such opportunities advisors are leveraging from being on LinkedIn is expanding their networks. You can do this effectively by simply connecting weekly with other professionals in your 2nd network of connections (which are immediately outside of your current network of connections). Any new connections added will result in further access to more professionals outside of your network. When new connections are made, sending a personal thank you message featuring your website, LinkedIn page, or even a group you’ve made on LinkedIn, is a great way to quickly gain exposure completely free.
2nd – Interacting on Twitter + Publishing Relevant Articles
Advisors are increasingly branding themselves across all the social media channels, and there’s no exception with Twitter. Although you typically won’t see the best targeting or response rates on Twitter. Twitter does give you the largest potential reach and connection capabilities. Many advisors are creating personal twitter accounts and publishing content relevant for both their potential customers, and other industry professionals. One great new tactic advisors are using among other professionals is curating a “digital paper” via Paper.li .
(Example of Paper.li)
Paper.li essentially allows you to aggregate articles and content from Twitter with relevant sources you’d like to feature in your own personal digital newspaper online, and then share it with everyone else on Twitter. This is great free resource gives you a way to interact with other accounts on Twitter and grow your reach. Simply sign into Paper.li with your Twitter account and choose your sources, then publish it on Twitter. Many will publish with the headlines such as, “The Daily Paper Is Out Featuring… (mention featured accounts using the @ symbol).
3rd – Creating an Advisor “Fan Page” on Facebook
Facebook ‘Fan Pages’ are another great and easy way to get noticed. Many advisors are now creating separate fan pages that dedicated to their practice and separate from their personal accounts. What’s great about Facebook fan pages is the fact that people completely outside of your personal Facebook account can see, like, and share this page with others. You can also include details about your office location, website, and hours of operation.
